Case Study : There was a real risk that the employee was going to lodge an Employment Tribunal

We were approached by a large business who had been trying to resolve a complex grievance involving a member of the leadership team that had reached appeal stage. There was a real risk that the employee was going to lodge an Employment Tribunal and the Directors felt that independent involvement at the appeal stage was needed given the numerous people who had been involved to that point.

We quickly met with our client to understand what they needed. Given the complexity of the grievance, we reviewed the original grievance, notes of meetings and all supporting documentation submitted by the individual and others and drew a fair, balanced conclusion along with extensive recommendations for the business to consider in the future.

Once the immediate matters were resolved we were asked to conduct a ‘deep dive’ HR audit of the business which identified some areas that they were doing well and some other opportunities for improvement. We worked with the leadership team to develop a people strategy that was aligned to their business priorities and strategy along with an implementation programme for delivery.
